Anna Kate Andrews

I founded Macarons by AK in the fall of my senior year at Ole Miss. It began at The Cakery in Oxford, but by October they were being sold in stores throughout Mississippi. I spent most of my nights in The Cakery kitchen making macarons- trying new flavors, shapes, and designs while listening to lectures and submitting assignments. After graduating in May of 2021, I moved home to Vicksburg where my joy for baking these Mississippi-made macarons has only grown. With each holiday and event comes an opportunity to create something new.

Mississippi Macarons

These are my signature “Mississippi macarons.” They are in the shape of the state of Mississippi, and a red heart is in the place of my hometown, Vicksburg.

What is a macaron?

A macaron is a French “sandwich cookie” made only with almond flour, powdered sugar, egg whites, and sugar — filled with buttercream. Macarons are naturally gluten free and can also be made nut free by replacing the almond flour with pumpkin seeds.

Traditionally macarons are round, but the best part about them is that they can be made into any shape, for any and every occasion!

What’s the occasion?

Celebrate your mom with a traditional macaron topped with a beautiful rosette.

  • School Spirit

These red and blue macarons were made for Ole Miss graduation.
